Battlefield Bad Company 2 In Demand As Beta Opens

21 hours on from the launch of the Battlefield Bad Company 2 PC beta, gaming service provider Multiplay has revealed the first set of stats following the 5:00pm launch.

“We’ve never seen demand like it,” says Craig Fletcher, Managing Director, Multiplay. “At our peak, we were connecting 10,000 people per second – and we managed the demand better than other servers, many of whom were down for hours when demand surged. If there was ever any doubt that our infrastructure and technology in Fileplay was anything other than best in its class, the past 16 hours have proved it.”

Key stats (as of 2:00pm 29/01/2010):

Over 1 million page views to Multiplay over night
Over 100,000 new Multiplay Member Accounts created
Over 10,000 user connections per second at peak
10,000 keys distributed in under 3 hours
30,000 files served over night (45 Terabytes of data so approx 5000 DVDs)
6,000 player slots on our European Game servers solidly full.
Multiplay quadrupled Fileplay’s web serving capacity in under 2 hours to deal with the huge surge in demand.

Korean MMORPG – KalOnline Gets New Pet System

Inixsoft (CEO Kim Sun-gu) announced that a new system update for Pet System would be added in KalOnline – Korean Fantasy MMORPG.

KalOnline that is based on oriental fantasy background will get four kinds of pets – Blue Dragon, White Tiger, Red Bird and Black Tortoise which respectively stand for Benevolence, righteousness, propriety and wisdom.

Blue Dragon, White Tiger, Red Bird and Black Tortoise come from the Painting of Four Guardian Gods describing the Heaven and Yin-Yang and the Five Elements theory. Blue Dragon that protects the east is aggressive, and White Tiger that protects the west can heal its master and specialized in certain skills. Red Bird is skilled at defense and Black Tortoise is aggressive and has certain special skills.

In accordance with pet’s attribute, players can get diverse buffs such as attack-power-up or defense-ability-up from his/her pet at PVP as well as in monster hunting.

“We will also make every effort during 2010 to repay our KalOnline players for their much interest and acclamation to us”, said one of the staff of KalOnline.

Beginning today, the Star Wars Galaxies™ Galactic Civil War: Forces Under Siege game update is available for Rebels and Imperials alike. Sony Online Entertainment is also offering eligible former players the opportunity to come back to Star Wars Galaxies for free between February 1 and March 1. With the balance of power in the galaxy at stake, anyone who can tote a blaster or lend support is needed on the front lines! Eligible player accounts will be automatically reactivated – players can simply log in to rejoin the action! For those who choose to re-subscribe before the free period ends, a special in-game painting will be given as a reward.
